John Fitzgerald originally bought land in 1997 from Tricare who had developed retirement living on another part of the land.

A long court battle took place with the court granting title to John Fitzgerald in 2006. During this time he formed Cypress Gardens Development Corporation with GG Investments (Carrara Pty Ltd) as partner.

Cypress Gardens Development Corporation owns the site today. John Fitzgerald is managing director of Cypress Gardens Development Corporation. 

Preliminary Development approval was granted in December 2014 for development of 970 apartments.

 In 2015 the company applied to increase number of apartments given traffic upgrades to connecting roads.

In 2017, the application for 1,550 apartments was approved by Gold Coast City Council.
The site has 3 golf courses within 500m (8 within 5kms), is located opposite a shopping centre as well as soon to be developed largest night market in Australia.

It is 4kms to the largest shopping mall on the Gold Coast - Pacific Fair - which just spent AUD$680 million on upgrade and 4Kms to Jupiters Casino and Gold Coast convention centre who also spent AUD $850 million on upgrades in 2016.

The site is 5kms to Bond University and 4kms to Robina Town Centre Shopping Centre who are spending AUD$160 million currently on upgrades and 10kms to Griffith University Hospital Complex.

The Commonwealth Games venue and Metricon Australian Football Stadium is located 4kms west adjoining PGA championship Golf course at Royal Pines.

The site is 6kms to Wanda Jewel towers currently selling at AUD$17,000/m²

The site is 5kms to Songcheng planned theme park due to commence construction in 2017.
